The Symptoms Of STDs
Several symptoms can indicate the possibility of a sexually transmitted disease. If you experience any of these symptoms see your health care provider as soon as possible.

Chlamydia - The Silent Epidemic
A bacterium called chlamydia trachomatis causes chlamydia which is the most prevalent sexually transmitted disease (STD) in the United States today. Approximately four million new cases of this disease occur each year and up to forty percent of women infected with this disease may be unaware of its existence.

Genital Herpes
Genital herpes affects at least forty-five million people in the United States who are infected with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). According to the CDC, one out of five teenagers and adults is infected with genital herpes.

Gonorrhea
According the the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), over 600,000 new cases of gonorrhea occur annually in the United States. For women this can have a particularly devastating effect on their reproductive health since women usually don't experience any symptoms.
