Choose Your Story, Change Your Life With Bestselling Author Kindra Hall
Amy Morin, LCSW
Verywell Mind Editor-in-Chief
On today's episode, I talk with Kindra Hall, an award-winning storyteller and author of "Choose Your Story, Change Your Life." She teaches companies how to sell their products through storytelling, and teaches people how to improve their lives by shifting their narrative.
Why Kindra Hall Is Mentally Strong

Kindra shares many other people's stories. She's talked to a variety of entrepreneurs, athletes, and professionals about the stories they tell themselves.

But, she's also very open about her own stories. She uses social media to tell stories that resonate with her audience–even when she's made a mistake or when she learned a valuable life lesson the hard way.

What You'll Learn About Mental Health and Mental Strength

Our internal dialogue plays a huge role in our mental health. And our mental health affects our internal dialogue.

Dwelling on the negative can increase your risk of psychological problems. But, psychological problems also increase the chances that you'll dwell on the negative.

Fortunately, everyone can choose to work on improving their self-talk. When you do, your mental health might improve.

Therapists often help people choose different stories they tell themselves. They help people see themselves, other people, and the world in a different light. Sometimes, choosing different stories helps people develop the mental strength they need to feel their best.

As we behave, we're doing it with these stories in mind, whether we know it or not. And so these stories can either move you forward or keep you where you are in some place, bring you backwards."
