FDA Authorizes First COVID-19 Breathalyzer Test
A much faster and less invasive COVID test is here, and FDA authorized.
 
Who: Meet the InspectIR COVID-19 Breathalyzer.
 
What: This is the first-ever breathalyzer test for COVID; it gives results in under three minutes.
 
Where: Trained professionals can administer the test at hospitals, clinics, and testing sites. Home breathalyzers are not currently available.

InsepctIR has not yet stated the ideal time to use its test after exposure or symptom onset.
Feel Better
This could be a welcome alternative for people who hate getting a nasal swab. But while the breathalyzer test appears highly accurate against Omicron, the FDA says any positive test result should be confirmed with a molecular test, like a PCR test.

WHO Panel Endorses Single HPV Vaccine Dose
The World Health Organization now recommends a single dose of the HPV vaccine for girls between the ages of 9 and 20. The HPV vaccine protects against some forms of cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers and is usually given in several doses. Multiple-dose vaccines aren't as accessible around the world; it's also important that girls get vaccinated when they are younger and will have a stronger immune response. This single-dose vaccine can help increase vaccine rates and lower the risk of cancer. The two-dose series, however, is still recommended for women between the ages of 21 and 26.
