From Tracee Cornforth, your Guide to Women's Health
This week we are talking about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Learn the facts about STDs from diagnosis and treatment to prevention. Have a healthy week! Tracee

The Symptoms Of STDs
Several symptoms can indicate the possibility of a sexually transmitted disease. If you experience any of these symptoms see your health care provider as soon as possible.

Chlamydia - The Silent Epidemic
A bacterium called chlamydia trachomatis causes chlamydia which is the most prevalent sexually transmitted disease (STD) in the United States today. Approximately four million new cases of this disease occur each year and up to forty percent of women infected with this disease may be unaware of its existence.

Genital Herpes
Genital herpes affects at least forty-five million people in the United States who are infected with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). According to the CDC, one out of five teenagers and adults is infected with genital herpes.

Gonorrhea
According the the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), over 600,000 new cases of gonorrhea occur annually in the United States. For women this can have a particularly devastating effect on their reproductive health since women usually don't experience any symptoms.

Thing To Know About Hair Loss In Women
The advertisements for treatment of balding and hair loss in men can't be missed. These ads might lead one to believe that hair loss is generally an issue affecting men. However, the fact is that as many as two-thirds of all women experience hair loss at some point.

Depression In Women
Depression: It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of health conditions that affect women, but, in fact, it is one of the leading reasons women seek out medical help. While it's not known for sure, higher rates of depression in women than men may be linked to biological and social differences.
