Benign Fibrocystic Breast Disease
It is not uncommon for women to be told by their physician that they have fibrocystic breast disease or other benign breast conditions. Other terms women may hear include benign breast disease, chronic mastitis (inflammation), and mammary dysplasia.

How To Perform Breast Self Exam
One out of eight women are at risk of developing breast cancer over their lifetime. Monthly breast self exam is one part of total breast care that includes annual physican exams and mammograms after age forty.

Mammography Screening
A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast and surrounding tissues which can effectively detect cancers long before you might feel a change during your monthly breast self- exam. Mammography can detect breast changes which could signify very early breast cancer.

5 Reasons Young Women Should Perform Breast Self Exam
When you're young, breast cancer is probably the furthest thing from your mind. However, it shouldn't be. Although breast cancer in young women is significantly less common among those from 20 to 39, it does happen. Don't believe it won't happen to you, I personally knew a young woman only 21 or 22 who had breast cancer. Finding time to incorporate breast self exam into your monthly schedule is easy when you realize just how important it is.

10 Things To Know About Uterine Fibroid Tumors
About 80% of women are believed to have benign uterine fibroid tumors. Because fibroids are estrogen dependent, they often shrink when menopause arrives.

Fibroids 101
Uterine fibroid tumors are almost always benign. These benign (non-cancerous) tumors are found in most cases, in the uterus of women in their 30's and 40's.

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Most women experience abnormal uterine bleeding at least once during their reproductive years. The most common times that women experience heavy menstrual periods are during the first few years of menstruation during adolescence and during the final two to three years of menstruating before menopause.

Top 10 Causes Of Heavy Menstrual Bleeding
How do you know when bleeding during your period is abnormally heavy? The easiest way to know if you are experiencing menorrhagia is to take note of how often you need to change your pad or tampon. If your period is heavy enough to require changing more often than every one or two hours, or if you have a period that lasts more than a full week, you may be experiencing menorrhagia.

Embarrassing Menstrual Moment Stories Wanted
Has menstruation ever caused you embarrassment? If so, you are not alone. Almost every woman experiences at least one embarrassing menstrual moment over the course of her menstruating years. Did you ever find a spot of blood on your clothes during your period? Did you ever worry that your tampon or pad was not containing your menstrual flow? Let our readers know that they are not alone by sharing the story of your most embarrassing menstrual moment.

Readers Share First Period Stories
I asked you to share your first period stories a few weeks ago, and many of you have shared your stories. Read these first period stories, and if you haven't already shared your story share it now!

Pain Between Periods
Have you ever experienced severe midcycle pain? Does pain and cramping seem to occur during ovulation? What you are experiencing may be Mittelschmerz. Mittelschmerz is a German word which translated literally means "middle pain." Other words you may hear include: ovulation pain, midcycle pain, menstrual, middle pain, or cramps.

Pelvic Pain 101
Sooner or later, as women, most of us experience some degree of pelvic pain. How we respond to pelvic pain varies; some women are more bothered by pain than others. If pelvic pain is severe enough to disrupt your daily life for either a few days a month or for longer amounts of time, if pelvic pain increases overtime, or if you have experienced a recent increase in pain, you should talk with your health care provider to determine the cause.
