How to Heal From Intergenerational Trauma With Holistic Psychologist Mariel Buquè
Amy Morin, LCSW
Verywell Mind Editor-in-Chief
On today's episode, I talk with Mariel Buquè, a psychologist and sound bath meditation healer who specializes in helping people heal wounds that stem from intergenerational trauma.
She works as a therapist and provides educational content on social media about how to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

Why Mariel Buquè Is Mentally Strong

She has shared her own journey of intergenerational trauma and some of the things she has learned about herself and her family along the way.

On her social media profiles, she is open about the struggles she's faced and the things she is working on. She is also taking what she has learned and is helping others heal their pain too.

We are beginning to understand now more than ever that the body is a big depository for trauma."

What You'll Hear on the Show
What You'll Learn About Mental Health and Mental Strength

Trauma leaves both biological and psychological imprints on us. That's why it's important to learn how to heal both your mind and your body.

Learning about a family history of trauma may help you make sense of some of the things you experience. For example, you might better understand why your mother was so overprotective and perhaps why you have anxiety now. Or, it might help you understand why your father had such a bad temper and you may recognize how this led to you becoming a people pleaser.

Healing from emotional wounds is key to growing mentally stronger. And sometimes, it's not obvious at first where those wounds came from or why you have them. Understanding intergenerational trauma might help you feel better and grow stronger.

You have to engage in an ongoing and intentional routine around how you take care of your mind, body, and spirit in order to see some leveling effect on your mind."
